Meredith Willson's The Music Man Auditions

Anonymous writes "The Fort Atkinson Community Theatre will be holding auditions for its upcoming production of "The Music Man." 


Auditions are open to all performers ages 10 and up, all roles are open.  Auditions will be held Saturday, April 9th from 9am to noon and Sunday, April 10th from 1pm to 3pm at First Congregational Church in Fort Atkinson. All auditioning need to bring a prepared song to sing, an accompanist will be provided. If auditioning for a speaking part you will perform a cold read from the script. Performers may be asked to sing a song from the show.

Music Man Cast of Characters 
Harold Hill- Smooth talking con man with plenty of charm. Kisses onstage. Baritone A flat to high F 

Marion Paroo- “Spinster” librarian, piano teacher, highly suspicious of Professor Hill. Kisses onstage. Soprano low G-high A 

Mrs. Paroo- Marion’s warm Irish mother, wants her to “stop foolin around with all them hi-falutin books, settle down and get married.” Alto-2nd Sporano (high E) 

Winthrop Paroo- Marion’s younger brother, very shy at first. Must be able to lisp. 

Mayor Shin- Blustery, self-important, takes himself very seriously. Great deal of comedic timing needed. 

Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn- Mayor’s self-important wife. Comedic timing essential. Alto. 

Zanetta Shinn- Mayor’s older daughter, slightly silly. 

Gracie Shinn- Zanetta’s little sister 

Tommy Dijilas- Town’s trouble maker, turns out to be model citizen. Wants to court Zanetta.

Amaryllis- Marian’s piano student, slightly bratty. Alto. 

Marcellus Washburn- Former con-man, worked for Harold. Tenor 

Ewart Dulop- School board, barbershop quartet, married to Maud. Baritone. 

Oliver Hix- School board, barbershop quartet, married to Alma. 2nd Tenor. 

Jacey Squires- School board, barbershop quartet, married to Mrs. Squires. Bass 

Olin Brit- School board, barbershop quartet. 1st Tenor. 

Ethel Toffelmier- Marcellus’s girlfriend. “Pickalittle Lady” 

Maud Dunlop- “Pickalittle Lady” 

Mrs. Squires- “Pickalittle Lady” 

Alma Hix- “Pickalittle Lady” 

Constable Locke- Town constable  

Charlie Cowell- Anvil salesman. Competitor of Harold Hill. Kisses onstage.
